Habib - age 5
He is from a family of 6 children. He is 5 years of age and he has 4 older sisters whom none of them are married. He is the fifth child and he has one younger brother. He is not in school yet. He has anaemia. His ambition is to become a paediatric doctor. He really enjoys drawing. He only has a mother. His father was killed because he is a Shia. Habib and his family are
suffering from malnutrition.
Habib has a sponsor, and with £1 a day he gets a weeks worth of medicine. Him and his family also get a blanket and a heater for Winter. They also get nutritious meals and day by day their condition is improving. It is now not necessary for the mother or daughters to go out looking for street jobs.
Ali Abbas - age 7
He attends school. When he is older he wants to do a lot of voluntary work and help the poor. His studies are going well. He loves playing football. He has one sister, 6 and one brother, 5. He has a mother. Their house was blown up in Iraq so they have to pay rent which is really expensive.
£1 a day, has allowed him to attend school instead of working on the streets washing cars to support the family and pay the rent. It also helps in buying materials such as pens and notebooks as well as food. As he does not need to worry about earning for his mother, in his spare time he memorises the Holy Quran.
Hassan - age 12
Hassan is blind. He was present when a bomb blew up, and half is body was burned and blinded to a high degree. He needs many operations to restore his sight. They have been living in Syria for six years and the sponsorship enables him to get treatment , although he needs more funds to ensure he gets the operations. He has 4 sisters and 1 brother.
Fatimeh M - age 11
She was given the wrong treatment and mistakenly had her leg amputated due the the lack of good doctors to treat her disease. After sponsorship she can now attend a handicapped school. She has 2 brothers and 3 sisters. She loves reading books. She does not have a mother .
